Once again this year, Sanimax is proud to support the Arrondissement de Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles, Les arpents verts, located near the Montreal plant. This year’s donation will enable us to partially renovate the garden shed floor and purchase maintenance materials (paint, brushes, hoses, spray guns, etc.). Over the past 20 years or so, our donations have helped the community garden in various ways, including the purchase of a gazebo for protection from the sun.
For those less familiar with community gardens, they are city plots divided into small individual areas (called “jardinets”), where everyone is responsible for their own plot and crops. Les Arpents verts has 94 garden plots, 8 of which are elevated.
Community gardens are also the perfect place to break isolation, exchange ideas on small-scale farming and promote community spirit!
