Montréal, October 3, 2025 – As part of the municipal election campaign in Montréal, Sanimax invited mayoral candidates in the Rivière-des-Prairies – Pointe-aux-Trembles (RDP-PAT) borough to visit its rendering plant.
With a view to forging ties with the communities in which it operates, the company had the opportunity to open the doors of its other plants in Lévis and Saint-Hyacinthe, where major investments have recently been made to improve neighbourly cohabitation.
Since 2024, a tripartite agreement has been signed between the Quebec government, the City of Montréal and the company, and major work has been carried out to improve cohabitation. Others are planned and are the subject of a mediation process initiated last spring. In all, Sanimax intends to invest nearly $50 million at its Montréal plant to resolve odour issues and improve the quality of life in the borough.
Candidates will have access to a guided tour of the facilities, including the most recent improvements to reduce nuisances. The proposed meeting will give candidates an up close look at plant operations, current projects and Sanimax’s vision for sustainable development and community relations.
Sanimax looks forward to working with the members of the new borough council following the November 2 election.
