Demolition work on the former Mount Royal Steel building at our Rivière-des-Prairies plant will begin in the next few days.

This work is part of the tripartite agreement signed last March between the City of Montreal, the Quebec government and Sanimax. They are part of the development projects presented and discussed at the public consultation held on April 22.

To minimize the impact on your daily life, the work will be carried out in two phases, scheduled to be completed by the end of August:

  • Phase 1 – Monday, August 12 and Tuesday, August 13, 2024
    • Excavation and backfilling work on 7th Street
    • Disconnection of water and sewer services to the building to be demolished
    • Main impact :
      • Closure of access to the Sanimax plant site via 7th Street.
      • Sanimax trucks will have to temporarily enter the site from Maurice-Duplessis Blvd.
      • You will not be affected by any water cuts, which will be limited to the demolition perimeter.
  • Phase 2: Monday, August 19 to Friday, August 30, 2024
    • Demolition of a building and backfilling of the site
    • Sanimax trucks may have to enter the site from boulevard Maurice-Duplessis. If so, this will be a temporary measure.

Planning for this work was carried out jointly with the RDP-PAT Borough. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Sanimax or the borough team:
