Dear Community Members,
As you know, our mission is to transform everything through the recovery and revalorization of inedible food products that would have gone to landfill with full loss of value.
In addition to processing animal by-products, did you know that Sanimax also recovers certain food products to give them a new life? This is particularly true in the case of expired fruits and vegetables from grocery stores and cooking oils from restaurants. Every week in Quebec, Sanimax recovers and recycles food waste from more than 1,000 grocery stores and restaurants in its own facilities (not in the Montreal plant) or in biodigesters. Each week in Montreal, close to 275,000 kg of food waste are recovered, recycled and returned to the food industry chain instead of being sent to landfills. A perfect example of circular economy.
Regarding the operations in RDP-PAT, we had a problem with the water treatment system on July 28 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM which caused odours: the problem was quickly resolved. Also, some of you may have noticed a long line of trucks on Maurice-Duplessis Boulevard: none of them were part of the Sanimax fleet.
Finally, we can confirm that a closure of the plant is planned for tomorrow during the day.
Sincerely,
The Sanimax team
